Hollywood, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2017) – The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida’s highly anticipated holiday concert returns to Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. “Holidays at Hard Rock Live” will feature an evening of upbeat and memorable holiday music from the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida accompanied by stage, screen and television artist Alan Cumming. Tickets are on sale now.

“We’re happy to welcome back the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida and their fans to Hard Rock Live,” said Susan Renneisen, vice president of community affairs and special events at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. “They always put on a great show, and we’re excited to see what they have in store for us this year with Alan Cumming.”

Cumming has been variously labeled as a renaissance man, style icon, social activist, bon viveur, though he considers himself a story-teller and provocateur for hire. According to Time Magazine, Cumming is “one of the most fun people in the show business.” New York Times described him as a “bawdy, countercultural sprite,” and Guardian characterized him as “European, weird and sexually ambiguous.”

In additional, Cumming has won more than thirty awards for his humanitarianism and social activism, including both the Great Scot and Icon awards from his homeland, Scotland. He was also made an Officer of the British Empire (OBE) in 2009 for his contributions to the arts and fight for equality in the LGBT community.

The chorus has planned its 2017-2018 season in reaction to current events. “We know music has the power to cross cultural divides and bring people together to celebrate diversity and the unique value of every member of our community,” said Harold Dioquino, artistic director and conductor, whose artistic vision has shaped the ensemble’s powerful sound. “Our audiences and our chorus are comprised of all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds. We look forward to our concerts being a focal point for all members of the community to feel connected and not divided.”

There are more than 120 members of the choir throughout the South Florida region, many of who performed for more than 12,000 audience members during the last season. This year, Dioquino is joined by newly appointed Juan F. Mansilla, assistant conductor who will be leading the group’s ensemble that serves as the organization’s primary outreach tool.

Each holiday season, the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida collects stuffed teddy bears and donates them to Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital at Broward Health. For guests who would like to contribute to the cause, there will have a teddy bear drop-off located inside Hard Rock Live on concert night.

About the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida:

Now entering its eighth season, the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida pursues a mission of inspiring through song. The Chorus continues to realize this mission in ways that can only be considered extraordinary. In six short years, the Chorus has grown to over one-hundred-and-twenty men and has become the largest gay men’s chorus in the Southeastern United States. The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida is under the direction of Artistic Director & Conductor Harold Dioquino, John C. Graves Maestro’s Chair.

The Chorus has earned a strong reputation for excellence, garnering prestigious invitations to perform throughout the South Florida region. The Chorus was the first gay men’s chorus to be invited to sing with the Symphony of the Americas (on the occasion of that orchestra’s twenty-fifth anniversary celebration); and was the first gay chorus ever to be invited to sing during the 33-year run of the very prestigious Sunday Afternoons of Music at the Gusman Center at the University of Miami. In 2015, the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida performed its holiday concert as an invited guest on the Live at Lynn! series at Lynn University in Boca Raton.  The Chorus reached a major milestone in December 2016, when it collaborated with Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood to perform its holiday concert at Hard Rock Live! with special guest artist Linda Eder.

Annually, through a combination of mainstage, outreach and educational performances, the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida reaches more than 12,000 individuals.
