    About Dade Schools Foundation, Inc.

The Dade Schools Athletic Foundation is a 501(c)3 created in 1994 through the Miami Dade County School Board to allow the private sector to support and augment the athletic programs in the Miami-Dade County Public School system. Miami-Dade schools operate their athletic programs with very few actual tax dollars with the majority of funds being raised by the principals, athletic directors and coaches. Every school has been forced to eliminate programs and severely restrict the number of students who can participate in athletics at every level. Funds raised by the Foundation are passed on directly to Dade County public high schools, as well as middle school athletic programs, to provide grants for the purchase of equipment, uniforms, and training aids. In addition, the DSAF annually provides scholarships for outstanding student-athletes. For more information, please visit our website at www.DSAF@dadeschools.net or call Harold Cole at 305.776.4112.

    About Lauren's Kids

Lauren's Kids is the creation of child-abuse victim, survivor and advocate Lauren Book-Lim. The mission of Lauren's Kids is to prevent sexual abuse of minors through educating children and adults about sexual predators and offenders, supporting survivors and their families in post-disclosure recovery and promoting awareness of sexual abuse laws. Through Lauren's Kids, we have been able to change laws to provide greater protection for children, begin a national public awareness campaign through local, regional and national media, and most recently, started training educators and school administrators to teach children about the dangers of child predators. Together with a licensed clinical psychiatrist, Lauren has created a curriculum that now offers a child-safety program throughout South Florida. The educational programming is active at the Homeless Assistance Center where it will touch the lives of 5,000 children and their families. Most recently, Lauren's Kids has been approved for a pilot program that will be taught through the Miami-Dade Public Schools. We felt a personal victory when Newsweek recently featured Lauren's work. For more information on Lauren's Kids, please visit our website at www.laurenskids.org  or call the office at 305.935.1866.
