COissant Pastry Confection Debuts with Limited Daily Availability at Council Oak Steaks & Seafood Restaurant at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Bananas Foster Cheesecake Returns, Back by Popular Demand and Refined Classic Carrot Cake Now on Dessert Menu
Hollywood, Fla. – With the northeastern Cronut™ craze taking South Florida by storm, Council Oak Steaks & Seafood at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has unveiled the COissant, a light, flaky, cream-filled confection available exclusively at the highly acclaimed gourmet restaurant. Guests will also find the return of the popular Bananas Foster Cheesecake to the menu as well as a refined classic Carrot Cake.
What sets the COissant pastry on the Hard Rock royalty pedestal is its limited availability. Because of its labor-intensive preparation (the pastry requires three days advance dough preparation and a three-hour daily time window to create the delicate fresh-from-the-oven presentation and taste) only 14 pastries will be available for purchase each day at 5 p.m. The COissant may be purchased for $16
"The multi-layered COissant is time–consuming to execute," explained Devon Batson, pastry chef at Council Oak Steaks & Seafood. "It's prepared from a true French croissant butter recipe. We're refining the COissant's flavor and consistency by rolling it in cinnamon-sugar and adding a Bourbon crème anglaise glaze and a warm vanilla bean pastry cream garnish."
The introduction of the COissant is Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood's local mouth-watering response to the original Cronut™ pastry creation by New York Chef Dominique Ansel that has made doughnut-croissant hybrids one of the most virally discussed dessert items in history.
Another sweet reason to stop by Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood is the return of Council Oak's Bananas Foster Cheesecake ($12). The indulgence finds a more permanent home on the menu after a two-year absence.
"We kept receiving requests for this fan favorite, but we're returning our Bananas Foster Cheesecake just a little sweeter with a more modern plating," said Batson.
Roasted, pureed bananas with banana liqueur are added to the traditional New York cheesecake base. The crust is prepared with melted white chocolate and praline paste. Fresh bananas, caramel sauce, vanilla bean cream and ganache will finish this very rich dish.
The Bananas Foster Cheesecake joins a more traditional Carrot Cake featuring a lighter cream cheese filling and orange oil and zest ($12). Signature desserts that are still available on the menu are Lava Cake ($12) and Souffle ($12).
Sophisticated, yet inviting and friendly, Council Oak offers genuine, 100% U.S.D.A. prime dry-aged stockyard beef, the freshest line-caught seafood from local waters, king crab legs that are flown in fresh from the Bering Sea and an award-winning wine list. Upon entering, guests can peer into the Butcher Shop through a glass-walled partition and interact with the restaurant's butcher to select cuts of meat for an extra, personalized touch.
Recognized by Wine Spectator with an Award of Excellence 2012, Council Oak presently boasts over 300 wines from more than 13 countries with an extensive wine-by-the-glass selection and intimate wine-bar seating. The restaurant's cozy bar and lounge also serves wine and specialty cocktails and offers live entertainment, nightly. While selections are available to meet several tastes and budgets, the restaurant is proud to offer Magnum bottles and high-end wines that include several first growth wines from the Bordeaux region of France priced from $1,500 to $4,500 a bottle. Zagat has also bestowed the restaurant with its 2012 Excellent Steakhouse & Seafood commendation and Opentable.com awarded the restaurant its Diners Choice Award 2013.
Council Oak is open Sunday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. for its award winning brunch featuring freshly prepared delicacies; Sunday - Thursday, from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. and Friday & Saturday, from 5 p.m. – midnight.
