

HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (July 30, 2008) -The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will host the third in a series of $3,000 buy-in charity poker tournaments to benefit local non-profit organizations on August 22-24 in the Poker Room at Seminole Paradise, will offer players a choice between two first days of play, either Friday, August 22 or Saturday, August 23 at 10 a.m. with the second day of play on Sunday, August 24 at 10 a.m.
Jim McGuire, executive director of the Ann Storck Center, which serves children and adults in South Florida afflicted with severe and multiple developmental disabilities, said he looks forward to the upcoming poker tournament and the potential funds that can be raised during the event.
"The Ann Storck Center is honored to be the beneficiary of the August Poker Tournament at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The proceeds of this event will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. We truly appreciate the very kind consideration of the Hard Rock," said McGuire.
According to Peter Arsenis, director of poker operations for the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the tournaments have been popular among players. "Poker players like the tournament structure and amount of chips they receive for their money. We're the only facility in Florida able to offer the buy-in activity and the players are responding. "
To date, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has donated $60,000 to charity. The Miami Beach Health Foundation has received $40,000 from the inaugural May tournament that saw Doron Malinasky of Hollywood win first-place prize of $98,280; while the Hollywood Police Athletic League (PAL) tournament in July netted $20,000 to help charitable activities and awarded $56,300 to Richard Kirsch of Pompano.
