South Florida Youth Advocates Honored by Big Brothers Big Sisters at Dejà Vu "Magic of Motown" Celebration and Fundraiser at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (September 5, 2013) – On Saturday, October 19, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County will host its annual Dejà Vu fundraiser at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. Guests will be brought back in time to the splendor of rock and roll's famed Motown era, enjoy the influential artists and celebrate the spectacular sights and sounds of the 1960s and 1970s. Festivities will include live entertainment from Sixth Star Entertainment, cocktails, a silent auction, dinner and dancing from 6 p.m. to midnight.
At the heart of the event is the recognition of select child advocates in South Florida. Dejà Vu honorees include Child Advocate of the Year Robert Leider, Visionary Corporation of the Year Royal Caribbean International and Impact Corporation of the Year Gables Engineering. In addition, a Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to John Weller in consideration of his decades of support for the organization. Throughout the night, they will be celebrated for their personal motivation, desire and action in giving back to the youth of South Florida, and receive gold records acknowledging their "chart-topping performance."
Dejà Vu is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County's largest annual fundraiser, and more than 400 community partners are expected to attend the retro, costumed, all-night party to celebrate 40 years of mentoring success. This year's "Magic of Motown" theme commemorates the celebration of one of South Florida's most honored charity events at Hard Rock Live, a venue that exudes the spirit of rock 'n' roll and the excitement that Dejà Vu delivers to the South Florida community each year.
Thanks to the planning of event co- chairs Alyssa Lovitt and Susan Renneisen, attendees will experience non-stop entertainment and surprises in the form of musical acts, large scale dance productions and the always anticipated, top secret live headline performer. Doug Jones and Sixth Star Entertainment produce the annual event, which has topped the Biz Bash magazine's list of top benefits events in South Florida for the past six years. Previous years have seen the likes of musical icon tribute performers such as Tom Jones, Tina Turner and Donna Summer.
All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County. The agency hopes to raise nearly $250,000, which will positively impact the lives of 300 Broward County children by providing them a caring adult mentor and ongoing support from Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"Each year, our friends and partners across South Florida give us the greatest gift by allowing us to continue serving children and families in Broward County," says Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County CEO Ana Cedeño. "With every donation, we strengthen our ability to make real, positive change in the lives of clients in our programs – youth who face adversity every day. Through events like Dejà Vu and all our annual fundraising efforts, we help children achieve success in life by realizing greater confidence, academic achievement and avoidance of risky behaviors."
The agency thanks its Dejà Vu sponsors for their ongoing support: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Sixth Star Entertainment & Marketing, Printing Corporation of the Americas, Marketing Matters, Publix Super Markets, Inc, BB & T, JM Family Enterprises, WSVN, Comcast, AutoNation, Inc., Royal Caribbean International, Timpano Italian Chophouse, SCG & Associates and Miller Construction Company.
