HOLLYWOOD, FL – The Seminole Casinos Mega Bad Beat Jackpot returned to Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood with a big hit of $200,156 on the evening of Sat., April 30. It was the first time since November 2010 that the exclusive Mega Bad Beat Jackpot had been won there. Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood has now scored $765,512 in the exclusive Mega Bad Jackpot.

At 10:30 p.m., Max I. won $100,079 with his “losing” hand of four jacks, beaten by Jonathan S. who took home $60,047 with a straight flush to 9. The eight other players at the table won $5,004 each.

A bad beat jackpot occurs when a seemingly unbeatable hand of at least four 10s loses to an even better hand. Once it’s won, the jackpot immediately resets at $100,000; something done only at Seminole Casinos in Florida.

The Seminole Casinos approach to larger, more frequent bad beat jackpots has now paid players a total of $7,062,966 in 31 jackpots since it began in December 2009.

The Seminole Casinos’ approach to larger, more frequent bad beat jackpots is funded by a $1 contribution from each pot of $10 or greater at the poker rooms in six Seminole casinos: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Seminole Casino Immokalee, Seminole Casino Brighton, and Seminole Casino Hollywood.   Fifty percent of the Seminole Mega Bad Beat prize pool is awarded to the qualifying losing hand; 30 percent to the qualifying winning; and 20 percent divided among the remaining players.

On January 8, 2011, the State of Florida bad beat jackpot record was set at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa when $584,864 was hit.
