HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Guests at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood will be able to try their luck on new Las Vegas-style, class III slot machines beginning Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008 at 11:30 a.m.
"Jan. 29 will be a historic day for the Seminole Tribe," said Chairman Mitchell Cypress. "This is good for our players, good for the Seminole Tribe and good for the State of Florida."
The first shipment of 1,000 new slot machines will be installed at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood for play beginning Jan. 29. The new machines were manufactured by International Game Technology (IGT) and Bally Technologies, both of Las Vegas, Nevada.
"We ordered more than 15,000 Las Vegas-style slot machines following the January 7th approval by the U.S. Department of the Interior of the compact agreement between the State of Florida and the Seminole Tribe," said James Allen, CEO of Seminole Gaming. "We had no idea so many machines would be available so soon, but our buying power and our relationships with the manufacturers made a real difference. We moved quickly to install the new machines once we learned of their availability."
The new machines will feature many of the most popular game titles, including Wheel of Fortune, Hot Shot, Cleopatra, Blazing 7s and Triple Diamond. Games new to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino will include Playboy, Carnival of Mystery, Golden Monkey, Millionaire Sevens, Mayan Riches and Lion Dance. They will be installed throughout the 145,000 sq. ft. casino, including both the new high-limit gaming area and the non-smoking gaming area. Denominations will range from one cent to $1000.
"IGT is honored by the opportunity to assist the Seminole Tribe in achieving this milestone," said Stephen Morro, COO of IGT.
"We are honored to be a part of this historic moment for the Seminole Tribe of Florida as they celebrate yet another groundbreaking milestone in their highly successful enterprise," said Richard M. Haddrill, Chief Executive Officer of Bally Technologies. "Bally and its subsidiary, Sierra Design Group, have been partnered with the Seminole Tribe for the past several years, providing systems, Class II gaming devices, and iVIEW technology."
Las Vegas-style slot machines will also be installed at the six other casinos of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, although no specific schedule has been set. The federally-approved compact agreement also provides for blackjack, baccarat and other house-banked card games at Seminole casinos. The Tribe is moving ahead with ordering needed equipment and hiring and training dealers. No dates have been set for the introduction of blackjack or other games.
The Seminole Tribe of Florida operates Seminole Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos in Hollywood and Tampa, Fla. Five other Seminole Casinos are located in Coconut Creek and Hollywood, Fla., as well as in Immokalee, near Naples, on the Brighton Reservation northwest of Lake Okeechobee and on the Big Cypress Reservation south of Lake Okeechobee. The Seminole Tribe pioneered Indian Gaming with the opening of a high-stakes bingo hall in Hollywood in 1979.
